Claudia Black Stargate Pictures posted Saturday, August 21st, 2004 by Brent
cbsg1 (5k image)Sorry, Farscape fans, but that's not a new picture of Claudia and Ben as Aeryn and John... Believe it or not, that's Claudia and Michael Shanks in an upcoming episode of Stargate SG-1. GateWorld.net has an episode synopsis (with spoilers) and a photo gallery showing that Claudia is just as lovely and tough in any role.

Episode Guide... posted Friday, August 20th, 2004 by Brent
Well, I finally finished capturing images from the last episode of Farscape. Whew! Head on over to the Episode Guide when you get a chance and take a look. Lots of high quality frame grabs from the DVDs as well as some J&A audio bits for each episode. I still have to finish the season one audio and the season four synopses, and then I can start adding all sorts of cool J&A specific stuff, such as J&A arc developments, a timeline, ... etc. It's getting there!

Previously on Farscape Gallery from Bad Timing posted Friday, August 20th, 2004 by Brent
I've added a gallery of the images seen in the "Previously on Farscape" intro to the series' final episode, Bat Timing. This sequence displayed in rapid order at least one scene from every single Farscape episode prior to the final one. The producers' choices for scenes is interesting.

First Glimpse of Wedding from Mini-series? posted Tuesday, August 17th, 2004 by Brent
Are these relatively new images actually the first glimpse of the simple wedding ceremony of John and Aeryn? Read on if you want to see them...
Reading various magazine articles on the new mini-series, I came across this very interesting photograph.

Not too overly interesting when you glance at it, but look at what's in Aeryn's hair. And look at Stark's smile. And we have Chiana and D'Argo standing nearby. Hmm.. Here's a close-up of the flower in Aeryn's hair:

Of course, this may be nothing more than just a quiet, post-de-crystalization romantic moment between the two of them, but why the flower? And what's Stark all happy about? And why does this look so much like a simple, quiet, wedding?

I can imagine John (or even Aeryn) wanting to just get the frelling ceremonies done with, since it was made very clear in Bad Timing that they may lose each other at a moment's notice. If you study the background of the first picture, it's pretty clear that they are still on the "water planet."

And to those who might argue, "why do you think they'd need a ceremony to be married," I merely point to A Dog With Two Bones (and other examples) in which Crichton clearly wants a wedding ceremony to seal his marriage to Aeryn.

But, heck, it may just be that he saw a cute flower he thought would look nice in her hair... guess we'll have to wait and see...

UPDATE: Interestingly enough, look at what's in the background of this picture of J&A on Moya:

Perhaps John brought home the plant that makes this particular flower as a present for Aeryn? smile

Why not discuss this in the J&A Forum?

What Was Left Behind in the Boat? posted Thursday, August 12th, 2004 by Brent
I must admit that I have been living under a mistaken perception following multiple viewings of Bad Timing, the series finale. After mentioning my belief on Farscape World's Forums, posters Emram and Urpling were kind enough to hint that maybe I wasn't seeing what I thought I was seeing. Well, I'm a big boy, so I'm admitting I was wrong. Read on to find out what I'm talking about...
In the final scene, as we all know, John and Aeryn are hugging (and then kissing) in the boat as they are crystalized by the mysterious ship. After D'Argo's painful and heartfelt screams, we see a shot from above the boat (see Image 1, below) in which we can clearly see their two pulse pistols and what looked to me to be two leather jackets inside out where they would have fallen.

Now, you may ask why I would think that their jackets had fallen when I clearly just saw them turned into glass figurines and then watched as they fell into a thousand pieces before my eyes, but, hey, I'm weird that way. Let's just say my brain was trying to identify those objects and they just looked like black leather coats to me...

Image 1: The boat, from above, following crystalization.

Image 2: The boat, from a high angle, before crystalization. Note the same leather-like material.

Okay, so that's where this story really gets going. There was some debate on the forums about why the ring (see Image 3, below) was not crystalized as well. Some argued that it was because the material was "not from that part of space," but I don't buy that... Elemental chemistry doesn't care about your zip code. But I didn't even bother to argue that point, as I clearly thought their clothes had also not been crystalized. Boy was I dumb on that count. But not, it seems, completely dumb.

Image 3: John's mother's ring, fallen from Aeryn's finger upon crystalization.

You see, the PK pulse pistols are most certainly from that part of space, so even those who believe in the "Earth stuff won't crystalize" theory (in which case I might want to ask them why John was crystalized) must scratch their heads at that one. And even if you try to say it wouldn't crystalize metal, well... there was quite a bit of metal on those jackets and pants, and I don't see those clasps and buckles in the pile. (Nor John's fillings, for that matter...)

Plus, now we're thrown another big curve... in the "leaked" 30 seconds of video (and the on-air teaser) of the mini-series, we see that J&A are brought back not only fully clothed (darn), but packing heat, as it were. And the aliens who brought them back aren't too happy they are pointing their pistols at them, so one has to ask... why did they arrange it so that J&A had their weapons if they didn't crystalize with them to begin with? Maybe they'll address this in the mini, but I bet they won't bother, BECAUSE...

In the end, I suspect the lack of crystalization of the ring and the pistols was simply dramatic license on the part of the writer. Each pistol in that position on the boat represents them as individuals and the ring, of course, represents their love and their unity as a couple. So I believe the answer to the question of why the ring (and guns) were not crystalized is simple: It's much more romantic and symbolic that way. In other words, because it was in the script.

Interview with Claudia Black posted Saturday, August 7th, 2004 by Brent
SciFi Wire has a short interview with Claudia Black in which she discusses returning to Farscape for the mini-series.
"For it to have stopped when it did, it brought additional attention to the show when it was canceled. So the miniseries has upped its value in doing another four hours of television based on that momentum. ... There were so many elements of the story that they needed to service for the fans to finish off this particular part of the story arc."

Enhanced Audio and Transcript of "Leaked" Clip posted Thursday, August 5th, 2004 by Brent
For those of you who either heard no audio in the recently "leaked" 30 second clip from the mini-series, click the MORE link below to have access to both a transcript of what was said and an enhanced audio file that clears up the dialogue somewhat.
Alien: Lower your weapons!
John (to D'Argo/Chiana): How long?
D'Argo: About sixty solar days.
Aeryn (to D'Argo/Chiana): Where?
Chiana: Still on the water planet.
Alien: Put your weapons down, NOW!
John: Bad guys?
D'Argo: Yes and no. They did help us put you back together.
Aeryn: Put us back together?!
Chiana: They said it was an accident. You were crystalized.
Aeryn and John: Crystalized?
Alien: Last warning...
